Many people comment that my classroom is a magical place because so many developmental milestones take place. Even though I would love to take credit for having some sort of magical powers and I am able to easily have children gain and master new skills, that would be a lie. In reality, any place can be made magical if they are created and set up with the children in mind.
Ways to do this include, making the space as open and restriction free as possible. Elimate hazards that would require you to block off parts of the room. If you allow the children space, they will be able to foster and grow with ease.
Another opportunity is to make the space flexible. Young learners are going to change rapidly, so make the environment that way as well. Don't be afraid to move furniture or rugs to keep things new and fresh.
Last one (for now), take 3 steps back, be quiet and watch. You will be amazed at what you see. Never assume you know what they are going to do
